The Seven of Pentacles is the long middle of an investment. Work done, time passed, results partial — and a decision to make about whether to keep going. When it appears, the situation calls for an honest assessment rather than either blind persistence or impatient abandonment. What it costs is the comfort of not looking. Plenty of people keep watering something dead because stopping would mean the years counted for nothing, and plenty quit a month before it would have worked. The difference is evidence. Look at what has actually changed since you started. If there is genuine growth, be patient. If there is none at all, sunk cost is not a reason.

Reversed, patience runs out or was misapplied. Quitting too early, or persisting in something that has been clearly unproductive for a long time.
